VIOTEK GN34C Ultrawide Gaming Monitor

  • Resolution: 3440 x 1440p WQHD (2K);
  • Aspect ration: 21:9 (ultrawide);
  • Screen size: 34”inch;
  • Curvature radius: 1800R;
  • Refresh rate: 100Hz;
  • Panel type: VA;
  • Response time: 4ms;
  • Brightness: 250 cd/m2;
  • Connectivity: DisplayPort 1.2, HDMI, DL-DVI, headphone jack;
  • AdaptiveSync technology: AMD FreeSync;
  • FreeSync range: out of the box: 80-100Hz, however users found the way to extend it to 40-100Hz, here is how to make it happen:
  • Coating of the display: Anti-glare/matte;
  • Input lag: around 4ms;

Strong points:

  • Image quality delivers sharp and clear presentation on GN34C with 109.68 PPI (pixels per inch);
  • GN34C with its 8 bit VA panel and 100% of sRGB coverage delivers vivid and natural-looking colors. Great color accuracy and reproduction;
  • 3000:1 contrast ratio delivers deep and detailed blacks and bright whites while also ads stunning color depth, making colors more vivid and pop out more;
  • Extra wide and curved screen makes gaming/movie watching much more immersive and enjoyable; VIOTEK GN34C
  • 4ms (GtG) response time allows for quick graphics rendering. Fast-mowing screen and objects on-screen appear crisp and detailed, without the annoying effect of ghosting or smearing with overdrive setting enabled;
  • 100Hz refresh rate delivers smooth and fluid gameplay experience;
  • AMD FreeSync technology eliminates screen tearing and stuttering by synchronizing displays refresh rate with GPUs produced framerate, resulting in buttery-smooth, lag-free gameplay;
  • This monitor comes with pre-calibrated picture preset modes (FPS, RTS, Movie etc.) to enhance viewing/playing experience;
  • Low Blue Light mode and Flicker-Free tech protects eyes from strain and other possible sight related issues. Especially good for long gaming sessions;
  • PIP (Picture in Picture) functionality allows to use multiple screens at once (multitasking). For example users can switch instantly between Twitch livestream to gaming match in cs:go to school work in Microsoft Word and etc.;
  • Great panel uniformity, no backlight bleeding;
  • GN34C offers variety of connectivity options;
  • Simple, yet solid and elegant looking design with relatively thin bezels, parts feel somewhat nicely constructed, however the build quality of the frame of the panel could use a bit more work.  Screen is matte anti-glare. Stand feels sturdy and robust with nice finish to it, although atracts dust and finger prints. Monitor is easy to set up;
  • The price is up to 200$ less than Asus and Acer competitors;
  • Viewing angles are wide and allow users to enjoy great picture quality even at extreme angles without much color shifting and distortion; VIOTEK GN34C
  • Low input lag makes gaming action feel highly responsive;

Neutral points:

  • No built-in speakers. It’s a win and lose situation. Downside is obviously you are not getting sound with this monitor. But usually the built-in speakers in monitors (not all, there are few good ones) are under powered so you will still need separate speakers set or headphones. Good side- price of monitor is reduced;

Negative points:

  • Lack of USB ports;
  • Slight ghosting might appear in fast paced games at times. To eliminate this (mostly), users can enable the different Overdrive settings in on-screen display menu;
  • Stand is not adjustable (only tilt adjustment is available);
  • FreeSync out of the box range is 80-100Hz, however some users found a way to extend it to 40-100Hz. Here is how to make it happen:
  • Build quality of the frame of the panel could use more work;
  • 250 nits brightness is solid, however it would be nice to see it go higher, perhaps 300 nits would be ideal;

Viotek GN34C is a very impressive performer. Users get very good picture quality, beautiful colors, fast refresh rate, curved and ultrawide display for more immersive experience, AMD FreeSync, low response time and some other cool features. The addition of USB ports and more adjustment options would be nice though. Another impressive point for GN34C is the price- like I’ve stated previously, the price is up to 200$ less than competitors from Asus and Acer. While those offer some more gaming features and more interesting designs, performance vise GN34C stands very tall when comparing. Viotek GN34C is one of the best if not the best ultrawide, 1440p curved gaming monitor in this price range.

      As far as recommendation goes, if You have a GPU from AMD then I recommend choosing gaming monitor with FreeSync technology (in this case Viotek GN34C). For Nvidia GPU owners, G-sync is the way to go (in this case we have AOC AGON AG352UCG & ASUS ROG SWIFT PG348Q).This adaptive sync technologies truly make a substantial difference in terms of making Your gameplay experience as smooth & responsive as possible.

  3. Ohhh Boy!

    I like the look of the ASUS ROG model.It has everything I want in a gaming monitor. What can I say but I have expensive taste. $1200 is worth it if it lasts.

    I would choose it because it has everything plus the best adjustability. The futuristic appearance would only add to the immersive experience if you game on it.

    I’m also big on graphics and any of these models in this ultrawide gaming monitor list would be covered there too.

    The ASUS ROG also already has the speakers built in the model so there’s nothing extra to buy to make them work. Most of the other models don’t and that would require extra space and more money spent. This model is beast.

  4. ASUS ROG is, of course, the dominator as always!! I’m pretty impressed with the high quality of ASUS ROG products which never disappoint. They’re satisfaction guarantee, but a little bit pricey.

    LG is also a great variant as a gaming monitor and they’re providing usually higher-than-average quality. Thank you for the great post!!
